The Day of the Black Sea was celebrated in Sochi

In 1996 the leaders of six countries - Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine and Georgia – have signed the plan of restoration and protection of the Black Sea.

In memory of that day in the past few years in Sochi the tradition to celebrate the International Day of the Black Sea has formed. This year as well a number of festive events has taken place within the framework of environmental support of the Olympic Games 2014, with the assistance of the city local authorities. The Organizing Committee Sochi- 2014 and representation office of Coca-Cola has taken part in its organization, also.

The activity called "Clean sea – to clean city" was held. With the help of active young people  and other volunteers the coastal strip has been cleaned while at city central suqare the activity of educational eco-town was organized.

In addition, in SochiNational Park the ecological trail Dry Canyon Psakho was officially opened. The trail passes through boxwood forest that is full of evergreen trees.

During roundtable discussion the involvement of young people in environmental projects and ecological support during preparation and holding of the Olympic Games 2014 was debated.
Also in the course of celebrations three-day film festival titled «H2O- Sochi" was held at which documentaries on environmental issues were shown.
